We spent the morning touring the city of Marrakech. Our first stop was the Saadian Tombs where sultans and their families from the mid-16th century up to 18th century are buried. The place was discovered in 1917. There are two buildings with up to 3 rooms each and each one very elaborately decorated with tile work. Our city guide was very thorough in his history lessons.
We toured a textile museum before stopping for lunch at a rooftop restaurant. Then we visited a very upscale spice shop where the owner did an excellent job of enticing us to buy various spices, seeds, lotions and remedies.
Bahia Palace was built in 1880. It is closed to the public, not because of Covid but because people would want to talk to the king about changing the rules and laws. We were able to visit some waiting rooms surrounding a courtyard.
