Camping in the Sahara

I was up all night sick to my stomach.  I’m not sure if it was something I ate or just too much food.  I started the day feeling pretty rotten.
Ali has arranged for 4WD vehicles to take us to the camp.  John and I rode in the cars the whole way while the rest of the group got to ride camels for 2 hours to the camp.  It’s very hot (90º) but according to Ali it is a cool day.  After lunch we took naps in the tent with a temp of 103º!

Our canvas tents hold a king sized bed with end tables and a small table and 2 chairs.  The attached bathroom has a small porta potty, sink and shower with hot & cold running water. The floor is covered with rugs as are the pathways between tents and to the dinning tent.  We are greeted with cold wash rags, mint tea and cookies after each outing.  The meals are traditional Moroccan fare but my sensitive tummy isn’t up to that today.

At 5 pm the camels returned for a short 1 hour ride in the cooling desert.  I talked John into giving it a try!  I enjoyed the ride but it did wear me out.  I retired very early following supper.
