It was a lazy morning so we didn't pull out until late but we still arrived in Steamboat at lunch time. It has been cloudy all day which made for nice weather to ride our bicycles along their River Trail. We put over 16 miles on the bikes with a stop down town to 'shop'. John's idea of shopping is to walk up and down the street window shopping. We did not step into a single store!
We found a great place for dinner! It's called The Laundry because it was a laundry for about 50 years before closing. A couple of other owners tried different businesses until the current occupant opened this restaurant about 8 months ago. They specialize in small plates, called tapas. We tried three different cheeses, three different meats (including Lardo) for an appetizer. The salad had pickled vegetables and herbs that were unfamiliar to us like purslane (look it up - it didn't taste very good to us) and two different types of radish. We had scallops with bok choy and a smoked brisket with caramelized onions and cheese. The red wine we chose went with everything except the scallops. We spent almost three hours dining for a wonderful evening.
