On to Italy

We said goodbye to Mike and Dianne (for just a few days) and boarded the train to Milan and then to Florence. Both trains were fast trains, at times traveling at 175 mph.  It took 20 minutes to go through the longest train tunnel in the world, 57 km.  When we arrived in Florence we had just a short 5 minute walk to the hotel.

We walked the streets around our hotel getting oriented before we took off to explore the rest of the city and to find our way to the museums for our visit tomorrow.  We found a nice wine bar, a good place for dinner (Zaza’s) and walked across the shopping bridge that crosses the Arno River.

We found the Gallaria del Academia and the Uffizi Galleria so we are good to go tomorrow.
