Cultural Exposure

Despite having a reservation for the Galleria de Accademia at 9am there were still lines of people to contend with. Once we got past the main attractions the number of people diminished somewhat.
Piete by Michelangelo is from the Renaissance era.

David by Michelangelo.

Many other works of art by numerous Renaissance artists. Most of the art itself was very religious in nature.  The building itself is beautiful and is as much a work of art as the sculptures and painting.

I found the musical instruments interesting.  You may have heard of the Hurdy-Gurdie, there are two of them on display just behind a string instrument called a Trumpet Marine.  When the bow is drawn across the single string it sounds like a trumpet.

We considered trying to get inside the Cathedral but the lines were insane and we didn’t have tickets so we just took pictures from the outside before going to lunch.
The afternoon was spent inside the Gallerie degli Uffizi.  This building was even more fantastic than the Accademia with frescoed ceilings in every room, statuary lining the long hallways, and more renaissance artwork.
Back out in the sunshine we have a view of Ponte Vecchio and the Cathederal.
