Land's End in Forillon National Park

We didn’t get as early a start as we wanted but its still a beautiful day for a long hike.  The park is situated on a spit of land that juts out into the Gulf and is the perfect place for a lighthouse.  From the parking lot to the lighthouse and back was 7.5 miles.  The trail took us along the coast then inland through forest, up and down several times then dropped us into the open area around the lighthouse.  What a view!  We then went down 375 meters to a platform at the edge of a cliff overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawerence.  We had arrived at Land’s End. Spectacular scenery!P1040039P1040040P1040045

After the hike we explored some of the public areas of the park, then found the trailhead for the waterfall hike.  It was short but lots of steps down to the base of this lovely, bucolic place.  The rocks under the fall were covered in soft, green moss which added to the quiet peacefulness of the place - until a couple of kids started yelling! Oh, well it was nice while it lasted.P1040047

As we entered the campground one of the couples, Janet and Mellow, texted us an invitation to join them for dinner in Gaspè. Who can turn down an opportunity to not cook?  We are really enjoying Janet and Mellow and had a delightful meal with them.

By the way, the town we are staying in is call Cap-Aux-Os.  I’ll give you three guesses as to how to pronounce that name!

Try cap-Oh-zoe.  I never would have gotten it!!
