The weekend was very quiet for us. John fished and I walked around gathering wood, crocheted, went to church on Sunday, etc. Pretty much what we have been doing for the past few days. We tried a back yard BBQ that was supposed to be really good but we didn’t think so. Can’t think of anything else.
Monday morning we hitched up the Jeep to the RV (the first time in two weeks) and drove out of NM and into CO. I chose Lathrop State Park because they have a 9-hole golf course! We are about 60 miles south of Pueblo and about an hour’s drive east of Great Sand Dunes NP. It’s a nice park with two lakes, swimming beach and boat launch although there are not many people here and no one is on the water.
After lunch we got our clubs out and tried to play 9-holes. Our games were way off, I’m thinking it is because we haven’t played for 4-5 weeks, and then sky let go with rain on the 6th hole. We were walking, so the trek back to the club house at 6500 feet elevation really winded me. I was ready to quit and that was okay with John. By the time we got back to the RV, the rain had let up somewhat and produced a beautiful rainbow.
Today we played the course again and this time we finished. It is a fairly easy course, no water hazards and no bunkers, so it is very busy. We waited on 3 four-somes in front of us and had a two-some behind us. We played okay, I guess.
After lunch we rode our bikes around the park but by the last two miles, John was sweating bullets because both of his tires were going flat! We also drove into Walsenburg for a quick look around this quaint town.
Like I said, not much happening.
