Once John was able to get two new inner tubes for his bike and get them installed, we were ready to ride the Greenway back downtown to be tourists.
Our first stop was the State Capitol Building which was erected in 1912. The wings were added in 1921, remodeled in 1950’s and 1970’s and restored in 2005-2010. It is classic in style using natural light from skylights in the dome and on each wing and large windows to illuminate the white marble walls, floors and columns. We walked through the senate and house chambers and explored each of the 4 levels.
Our next stop was the Cathedral of the Rockies also known as the First United Methodist Church. The church was established in 1872 but this is the third building it has occupied. The stained glass windows lined both sides of the chancery as well as over the alter and at the back over the pipe organ. We peeked into the lovely chapel and the room for their contemporary services. It is a huge church!
We parked our bikes and walked around the downtown area again. It looks much different in daylight. I was thirsty so we stopped at a restaurant that serves French fries. Imagine that, potato fries in Idaho! We could get russet, red, Yukon gold, purple, yams, or sweet potatoes. They had 10 different kinds of salt to put on them and about 8 different sauces to dip them in. Just what we needed - HA!
We stopped again at a bar right on the trail featuring live music all day & had a drink! When we got home I fixed a small dinner and we crashed!
