The Ireland Adventure Begins

This has been a long day of travel, well actually two days of travel. David and Mickey Floyd are going with  us.  We left Sedalia at 10:30 am on Tues. June 9, drove to KC airport, flew to Dallas, had a 2 hour lay over and then flew to London on British Air.  We flew busines class so we had opposing seats that fully relined to a bed.  It was interesting flying backwards and being able to face John while eating or watching a movie.  After a 4 hour layover at Heathrow, we finally arrived in Cork, Ireland at about 3 PM on Wed. June 10.

Despite being tired we showered and went exploring old town Cork, stopped in a pub for a brew and dined on tapas at Orso Restaurant just one block from the Imperial Hotel where we are staying.  As we walked off our dinner, we stopped to look at a city map on the street.  A very friendly couple stopped to see if we needed help getting somewhere.  He then gave us a brief history of Cork and explained how it had been built on canals just like Venice or Amsterdam.  Some of the homes along the roadway used to be several steps above the water and still retain their steps.

Its way past our bedtime!!
