Moremi Game Hunters, part 2

We spotted two more giraffes then a couple of warthogs ( they are so ugly!). The male will have 4 warts or tusk-like things on his nose and females have only two. Then we found the Tsessebe or Topi antelope, the fastest antelope on the savanna.

But the most exciting time was when we came past a herd of 12-15 elephants crossing the road in front of us. This herd had several baby elephants around 2 weeks old. They were so cute. A couple were even playing with each other but we didn’t get to watch them for very long becasue a bull elephant thought we were getting too close to the babies and trumpeted at us! He also made some aggressive moves towards us so Mr. Fish drove away before anything more could happen.
Shortly after that we found some Zebra and two beautiful ostriches.

The other jeep saw some of the same things we did but they found the Secretary Bird to be most fascinating. These birds have a crane like look to them but are much smaller. Their outstandig feature is their long legs and the way they walk as if they are using cross country skis. They also have a weird crown of sorts made of different size feathers across their heads. And they kill snakes!

Just at sunset Stanley took us to a spot near a lake where we had cocktails and watched the sunset. While there we thought we saw a hippo but it turned out to be a crocodile who would have loved for us to go wadding in the water! Ha! The wild dog pack also ran past chasing an Impala. Thus ended a glorious game day!
