Our route today took us along the north road in Yellowstone National Park. We had no idea that the park road would be so narrow! Either that or our RV is really wide! Luckily the speed limit is slow so we didn't have to worry about halting traffic.
It is expected that when you travel in Yellowstone, you will see wild animals. The only wild ones we saw today were buffalo and there were lots of them! We also stopped to look at the Mammoth Hot Springs which reminded us of the Travertines of Turkey. They looked like dirty snow glaciers from a distance but up close they are full of color and people. Yes, people! They were everywhere! Of course, its high tourist season!
We left Yellowstone at the north gate and followed the Yellowstone River towards Livingston hoping to find a fishing access campground . There were supposed to be several of them. After a wrong turn and having to unhitch the Jeep from the RV (it was blocking one lane) in order to get turned around, I explored the campgrounds in the car while John waited in the RV at the beginning of the road. Did you notice the date? It's the day before the 4th of July and the campgrounds are filling up fast! We ended up staying at a KOA campground.
John took me out for dinner tonight in Livingston and guess what the event of the evening is -- a Rodeo! Imagine that! Where do all these cowboys come from??
